How Brent Sopel helped Ace Bailey’s grandson cope with dyslexia

Kaid Oliver was struggling this past season, his fourth in the Western Hockey League with the Victoria Royals, mired in a slump and seeking answers for questions about hockey, schooling — and, really, life.

Where to go? Who to turn to?

Through the course of these conversations — which also focused on Oliver’s dyslexia diagnosis back when he was in elementary school — a mental health coach associated with the Royals had a suggestion for Oliver, the grandson of former NHLer Garnet “Ace” Bailey.
